Merry Christmas, Friends!
Let’s REJOICE in Jesus, called Emmanuel, meaning “God is with us”! What a blessing in these changing days that WE ARE NEVER ALONE, GOD IS WITH US! What a reason to REJOICE!
We REJOICE in the opportunity to serve the ANAM members. During 2020, much of that has been by phone, personal email, sharing resources and prayer requests via email, and FINALLY by being able to travel in October and November. We REJOICE that the missionaries and mission leaders with whom we met were REJOICING that even through challenges, they are still able to reach out, often in new and unique ways!
We REJOICE in the creativity that God has given to those who serve within the ANAM family. Many of our Native ministries have been involved in distributing food, water, cleaning supplies, and even hay for the animals that provide their livelihoods. Church services and Sunday School classes have been held via conference call, Zoom, and online and, in some cases, more have attended than when they were meeting in person. Even graveside services were conducted via phone conference call. Mission radio stations have been used to keep those on the reservations informed and ministered to. Camping ministries offered “camp in a bag” and online programs. Other children’s ministries have developed online programs to stay connected with “their kids”. Those involved in pastoral training are limited in travel, but are developing video presentations and empowering those who are already trained to serve. Also, during this “down-time”, those with facilities were able to focus on projects, even though work groups were limited. Dedication in service has been so evident as God continues to impress the need to spread His Word!
We REJOICE that much has been happening in our family and wanted to share some highlights with you:
Anna & Darcy – They are excited to be closing on a “new to them” home December 18th on three acres in the country. What a blessing for them after a long search to find just what they wanted! Anna is homeschooling Ryan and Evabel this year and they love the outdoors, so they are counting the days till moving.
Sara & Daniel – They have enjoyed settling into their new home this year on 20 acres. With the recent addition of a barn, the grandkids are looking forward to adding more animals to the growing chicken and quail flocks. Asa and Judah are homeschooling while Marcella, a freshmen, and Chaya, a senior, are still able to enjoy “in person” classes at the high school.
Esther & Wes – Yes, they are moving too! Earlier this year, God opened the door for them to purchase a 283 acre farm just 8 minutes from us! The farm was ready for cattle, has a barn and a shop, but no house. They are in the process of downsizing into a small trailer home until a house can be built. They look forward to how God will use the farm as a place of ministry as they have interns work alongside them! Esther is also homeschooling Jade, and Ruby, at 18 months, is keeping everyone smiling.
Lola Ruth (Doug’s Mom) – Several recent falls and a bout with Covid and pneumonia have caused many physical struggles for Mom. She needs a great deal of assistance. Thankfully, the nursing home has recently been able to allow us to come into her room to be an encouragement to her.
Ann (Faith’s Mom) – Mom is doing well! She is still able to be in her home, enjoys having company and participating in the planning for the mission outreaches of the church.
Steve (Faith’s Brother) – Thankfully, his body is responding well to cancer treatments!
Also, we are REJOICING that we were able to purchase a “new to us” van this fall. Our old one had 263,000 miles and was in need of retirement. We hope to resume traveling more for ANAM in 2021! Please pray with us for wisdom as we seek to firm up travel and ministry plans.
Yes, we have much about which to REJOICE! Our Emmanuel is at work in hearts and lives all around us and desires to use each of us to accomplish His purposes! Thanks to each of you who have prayed for and supported us in 2020 so that we can serve with ANAM. We anticipate God continuing to use us and each of the members of ANAM in 2021!
Looking forward with REJOICING!
Doug & Faith
